Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer and mix engineer Nico Stadi shares the story of Kylie Minogue’s escapade into the world of remote recording for her 15th studio album ‘Disco’.
Since the beginning of her musical career in the late ‘80s, Kylie Minogue has secured her renown as a worldwide household name. Having sold over 80 million records worldwide, Minogue is the highest-selling female Australian artist of all time, with accolades including a Grammy Award, three Brit Awards and 17 ARIA Music Awards.
However, it wasn’t until work on her 15th studio album ‘Disco’ was halted by the pandemic, that Minogue delved into the world of remote recording for the first time.
Nico Stadi, the co-writer, producer and mix engineer behind album tracks ‘Miss a Thing’ and ‘Real Groove’ was the mastermind behind their remote workflow. Using screen control software, Stadi was able to control Minogue’s computer and record her vocals, using the LISTENTO plugin to hear her takes from the other side of the world.
Stadi revealed how he continued to utilise this workflow when producing singer-songwriter Sibide’s atmospheric, 7-track EP ‘Diamond in the Desert’. You can read the full interview here.
