How an Abbey Road mastering engineer REALLY gets client feedback

Oli Morgan is Abbey Road’s resident stem mastering engineer, well-versed to working to tight deadlines across multiple clients and handling and responding to disparate feedback.

Quiz a client on when they want a record mastered by and ‘Yesterday’ is the response you’re usually met by. As such, mastering engineers must walk a delicate line between working to tight deadlines but making sure they accurately absorb and reflect client feedback. We sat down with Oli Morgan in Mastering Room 6 of Abbey Road Studios, to learn more about how he gets remote client feedback on everything from BBC documentary soundtracks to dance records.

For Oli, being able to stream his audio as he works is vital. LISTENTO allows his clients to listen to his work in a space and setup that they’re comfortable with, while feeling comfortable to share their immediate, instinctive reactions on the track, so they can collaborate on getting to the best result in the fastest way possible.
